A DESIGN graduate is following in the footsteps of her parents by launching her own flooring business.
Lily Atherton, 21, who graduated from university in textile design, has launched Floorshow to provide carpets and flooring for domestic properties.
As a student, she spent the summers working for her parent’s contract flooring business and noticed that their firm was unable to give sufficient time to the smaller domestic jobs.
So she started researching the market, put together the idea for her own company and has become the fourth generation of Athertons to go into the business.
She said: “After graduating I decided I wanted to work in flooring full time with my parents at Contract Floors and noticed there were a lot of domestic jobs to be picked up that I could manage.
“So I started taking them on and going out measuring up the carpets for myself and after good customer feedback decided to start my company specifically for the general public.” She said the name was designed to engender a company which focussed on providing quality floor coverings for people’s homes. She has her showroom at the Whitehills Business Park, Blackpool.
“Things are going very well I am very pleased. A lot of my customers have come through the Contract Floors connection but I am aiming to expand and have completed jobs across the whole of the Fylde.
“The showroom is midway between Blackpool and St Annes and I have carried out work from Carleton and Poulton to St Annes.
“I do all kinds of flooring from carpets to laminates and solid wood and we even sell rugs at the showroom.”
