A skills and jobs fair is set to be repeated next year after it proved a success.

Blackpool South MP Gordon Marsden said he has had lots of good feedback following Friday’s Blackpool Works event for 16 to 24-year-olds at Blackpool Football Club.

He said: “I’ve had lots of positive comments and tweets about the day and I think we will repeat it next year.

“What was great was that it brought together a huge range of organisations, from Blackpool Council and the colleges to voluntary services and small businesses.

“The room was overflowing and I hope it will have given a real boost to the process of opening up more job and training opportunities but it was also about giving people confidence, and there were some very practical sessions such as advice about how to write a CV.

“I hope it will be a spur to all the good things that are going on around Blackpool.”
