Huge expansion for energy firm

ENERGY giant Inenco has unveiled a major expansion and makeover of its St Annes HQ as the business and workforce continue to expand.

The company, which manages nearly 1b worth of gas and electricity for blue chip customers and is now the UK's largest independent energy analyst, has seen its workforce almost double in the past five years to 227 people.

Opening the new office space, Fylde mayor Coun Elizabeth Oades thanked the firm for remaining in the borough throughout its expansion, aiding the local economy.

She added: "Inenco's success is really good news and with the current global and national situation it's fantastic to see a local firm expanding in this way.

"I'd like to thank the firm for having faith in the Fylde and expanding here. It's very, very important to our local economy the company is here and continues to prosper, providing jobs for local people and providing welcome spending power in our shops and local economy."

Inenco, which began life more than 40 years ago in an office above Woolworth's in St Annes, has been based at Petros House on St Andrew's Road since 1998 and up until last year shared the offices with the Inland Revenue but has now moved into the vacant space left by the tax office.

Since it was acquired by FTSE-listed Spice plc in 2006, the firm has acquired three more North West companies including Saturn Energy, Energy 2000 and Nifes.

The total workforce across all the sister companies now stands at more than 360 people.

As a result of its rapid expansion Inenco has now moved into the two lower floors where the tax office was based and invested in a stylish new ground-floor reception area.

Inenco managing director Michael Abbott said: "The expansion of our operation at Petros House shows how far we've come as a company.

"It also highlights our firm commitment to our hometown base.

"Inenco's services, in the fields of energy purchasing, efficiency and carbon reduction, are becoming increasingly crucial to business and public sector customers across the UK.

"We're continuing to focus on building our business across the North West, benefiting from the unparalleled energy industry expertise which exists within the region.

"We believe Inenco's staff are second to none in their commitment to the company and in their expertise in the energy sector."

Inenco's portfolio of high-profile energy buying clients includes a number of the UK's biggest companies, such as Marks & Spencer.
