The owners of a seafront Blackpool hotel are investing £100,000 in upgrading the property.

The Sleepwell Group says the cash injection into the three-star Carousel Hotel on New South Promenade is a reflection of their confidence in the resort.

And the investment is already paying off after the hotel received a certificate of excellence from travel site Trip Advisor.

Mark Wilson, managing director of Sleepwell Hotels, said: “Over the last couple of months we have made an investment of around £100,000 getting the hotel ready for maximum occupancy during the main summer months.

“We have confidence in Blackpool and the hotel’s all year round occupancy is continuing to grow.

“We are going through each room upgrading the beds and putting in memory phone mattresses, redecorating the rooms and putting in new televisions and DVDs, as well as improving the public areas.

“It is great to get the recognition from Trip Advisor.

“There are hotels out there who do achieve high standards and that is recognised by one of the most widely read websites.”

The Carousel, which opened in 2004, boasts 92 rooms and employs 60 members of staff.

The Trip Advisor certificate of excellence recognises businesses which rank in the top 10 per cent worldwide for traveller feedback.
