Historic mains hall is set to reopen its doors – as a private hire country home.
A former bed and breakfast, country house hotel and restaurant, the wedding venue is set to once again offer accommodation following a programme of refurbishment from owners roger and Adele Yeomans.
The building will reopen as an Exclusively Yours private hire country home from February 2012.
Mr Yeomans said: “When we traded as a hotel, even though we had only 12 letting bedrooms, we had a healthy business right from the start.
“We not only had business people staying in the week, we had a thriving restaurant, conference facility and, of course, we hosted weddings and events.
“In terms of the weddings, couples naturally prefer to stay at the place they get married.”
Following a fire in the hotel in 2002, the couple, who have owned the hall since 1989, began to rethink their strategy. The business was becoming more wedding and events-focused and the family moved into the hall, building an extension for events.
Now the owners’ children have flown the nest, Mrs Yeomans said: “Guests and couples alike asked us why we did not let the house out, being such a fantastically historic local gem. In the end, we had to concede it made good business sense to utilise the house as a private house party hire.”
The old hall is now undergoing refurbishment. The 12-bedroom hotel has been transformed into a seven-bedroom house. Alongside a honeymoon suite, with wet room, bath and feature walk-in dressing room, the revamped house still features open fires and Jacobean panelling inside its timber-framed walls.
