Fylde’s MP has welcomed aerospace apprentices to Westminster at a reception to celebrate trainees.

The reception was held to recognise the role of apprentices in the success of the aerospace industry, which is worth £24bn to the UK economy.

Mark Menzies met BAE Systems trainees Chris Johnson and Joe Battershall at Parliament, where they discussed the many opportunities available in the sector, both locally and around the world.

Mr Menzies said: “BAE Systems at Warton is an example of the vibrant and growing UK aerospace industry which exists in Lancashire – a sector which can only grow as the Warton Enterprise Zone, which will be focussed towards advanced engineering and aeronautical businesses, comes together.” It followed the launch a Government strategy for the future of the sector.
