A Lytham-based international business is celebrating record profits.
Dock Road-based animal health expert, VetPlus, marked two decades of success in the veterinary nutraceutical industry with a profit of more than £2m.
Bosses said investment and commitment to research and development has been a big contributor to this success story, helping the company generate a turnover of nearly £12.5m.
In the past five years, the company, a division of the Tangerine Group, has invested more than £5m towards new equipment and has recently purchased a second building next door to its existing head office, in order to expand its research and development facilities even further.
David Haythornthwaite, founder and current managing director of VetPlus, said: “Having the ability to manufacture our products in house has allowed us to stay ahead of the sector with new, innovative products and as such is a vital element of the business.”
He said VetPlus had developed a range of industry-leading products which help manage numerous animal health issues, such as cognitive dysfunction, stress, anxiety and problematic joint function.
David added: “Achieving this record profit in line with our anniversary is a fantastic way to highlight the success of the past 20 years.
“We never set out to be the biggest, but simply to be recognised as the leader in our field by providing a credible alternative to long term drug therapy.”
Since David launched the company from his bedroom in Lytham St Annes back in 1995, VetPlus has been at the forefront of growth and innovation and today, operates in more than 30 countries worldwide.
