FIVE shops have opened their doors in a Blackpool shopping centre to boost trade in the town.
After a spate of closures and uncertainty hanging over a number of stores, the Houndshill centre has welcomed Millie’s Cookies, Duffer, Vision Express, Trespass and The Fragrance Shop to fill empty spaces and regenerate the area.
The centre was recently purchased by Blackstone and Catalyst Capital, who claim to have had a number of people expressing “significant interest” in the empty spaces.
Ilan Goldman, from Catalyst Capital said: “We are obviously delighted to have secured these five great lettings at the scheme which build on and enhance the already impressive retailer line-up.
“Since acquisition, the centre has generated significant interest within the market, and we’re looking forward to announcing many more names over the coming months.”
Beverley Butterfield, joint-owner of Millie’s Cookies, said: “We’ve seen large investment and regeneration in Blackpool and in Houndshill itself.
“This is a great place to shop and serves its customers well.
“Having five new shops is great for Blackpool.
“Millie’s is a well known brand and being opposite Pandora is a great location.”
Rob Wingrave, of Lunson Mitchenall, added: “Each retailer adds to the offer at the centre, creating a shopping destination that is ever more appealing to both potential tenants and retailers alike.”
