THIS is the first glimpse of a brand new multi-million pound homes and shopping development.

Building work is already underway on the much-anticipated flats, which will form part of the new Aldi development on the corner of Clifton Drive North and St Georges Road, St Annes.

Now Lancashire developer Hollinwood Homes has revealed what the £5.5m development, which will see 34 one- and two-bedroom apartments built over three floors, will eventually look like.

The homes and supermarket are being built on the site of the former Job Centre and Conservative Club, which were finally torn down earlier this year after months of campaigning by councillors and business leaders.

John Moxham, chairman of St Annes Chamber of Trade, said: “It’s good the development has finally started because the old Job Centre and Conservative Club were a horrendous eyesore.

“The new building is a more than worthy replacement, we’ve seen the model and it’s fabulous – it fits in perfectly to the entrance to St Annes and the surrounding area with Ashton Gardens.

“As a store I think Aldi will be more than welcome in St Annes and I think it will serve both Lytham and St Annes.”

The homes will be priced from £98,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £160,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, and the first residents are expected to move in late next year.

Entwistle Green will market the homes from its St Annes office, and land and new homes sales director Jan Welsh said: “The development provides a unique opportunity to purchase a contemporary new build apartment in a very sought after location at an affordable price.

“The apartments are extremely spacious with a high standard of specification which we expect to appeal to a wide spectrum of purchasers.

“Given the location and the quality of build synonymous with Hollinwood Homes we are confident there will be a high demand for the properties.”
