Blackpool-based food supplement and health product manufacturer Nutrition Group has revealed it is investing almost £1m in state-of-the-art technology to create one of the most modern operations of its kind in the UK.

The contract manufacturer is installing the latest tablet technology as it creates its new £2m facility in Blackpool, which is set to open in November this year.

The investment includes a £300,000 deal with pharmaceutical equipment maker IMA Active to install new equipment to blend powders more efficiently.

Nutrition Group is also investing in upgrading its tableting machines and is installing additional coating facilities at its modern new manufacturing home, which will also boost its workforce from 75 to 90.

The new processing equipment in the 75,000 sq ft plant in Olympic Way, Blackpool, will allow the group to double its capacity worldwide.

It currently makes 2.5 billion tablets and capsules a year from its present Bispham operation – developing and producing vitamins, minerals and supplements for major high street and online retailers.

Business development director Richard Greathead said: “The new equipment we are installing in our new manufacturing facility will make the process cleaner and much more efficient. The production equipment that we have ordered will allow us to double our production capacity.”
