A family run toy business is expanding with plans to take space in a nearby warehouse site.

Playtime UK, which also incorporates Stuff It, uses polystyrene to stuff cuddly toys which are sold on the Promenade in Blackpool and other towns.

But now it has opened its own bargain toy store in time for Christmas at its headquarters at Wellington Point, Squires Gate.

The store, open seven days, has a range of more than 1,000 and is expected to keep the staff busy during the quiet season before soft toy production cranks up again in the new year.

Manager Emma Jelley, wife of owner Paul Jelley said their aim was to be the cheapest toy store in Blackpool.

She said: “There are not many toy shops around these days so this seemed the obvious way to expand our business.

“As well as the soft toys we do for the holiday parks and the piers we have now got a huge range of other toys for sale here with new items coming in all the time.

“We also sell through eBay and some things are flying out already. We have sold lots of the Robo My Magical Mermaid toys this month ready for Christmas.

“We have everything from 25p sweets to mini quad bikes at £600 and we are already finding we need more space so we are planning to take over some warehouse space just along from here.

“We are still asking people to send us their clean polystyrene packing so if they have any left over from Christmas they can bring it along.”
