The five houses, a mixture of bungalows and two storey properties, have been boarded up for some time.

The application has been given a guarded welcome by local councillor Kim Critchley.

She said: “These houses have been boarded up for a while now and that sort of thing makes an area look a mess so it is good to see progress. I would welcome the development, if it gets permission, if they include affordable housing and will look forward to seeing the detailed application.”

The application has come from agents Keystone Design and the demolition company would be Ashworth Demolition.
