A FAMILY-RUN business is celebrating 10 years of trading.
St Annes clothing shop Cube is owned and operated by the husband and wife partnership of Danny and Emma Shiers.
The couple have battled through the recession to keep their doors open and provide a range of high street items for their loyal customers.
Mr Shiers told The Gazette: “Some people think it’s just a case of buying a few clothes and selling them – after 10 years of mistakes and triumphs, I believe retail is one of the hardest games in the business book.
“Trying to predict 12 months in advance what is going to sell is a tough call, but we’ve learnt from those mistakes and come through tough times to grow and survive.
“Listening to your customers is key but you also have to know when to buy and change your store every Monday morning.
“We have a loyal following of very regular customers who have supported us for all these years and we would like to thank them for making us who we are today.”
The shop, on Park Road, sells a variety of designer brands including Firetrap, UGG, Tommy Hilfiger and French Connection.
Mr Shiers’ wife has also played an important role in the running of the business as she designs the store’s layout.
She added: “I feel after 10 years our customers have grown up so we feel it’s very important to cater for all ages.
“A lot of changes have taken place from the early days where we were learning. I have been in retail for 20 years now and have been a merchandiser and buyer for the last 10.
“It’s very important to have the store looking fresh each season and to move with the catwalk and city trends.”
