Company buyout is the right tonic

A FYLDE entrepreneur has taken over a health company – and now plans to turn it into a global brand.

Keith Allum is now the managing director of Lytham-based Arthro Vite having struck a deal to buy the company, which has a 1m turnover.

He has bought out his long-term business partner Stuart Hickey and is now the sole owner of the firm.

The Church Road company makes health products to help improve joint mobility and bone health and was established in 1994.

Mr Allum, who initially joined the company as an IT consultant 14 years ago, now wants to expand the market to compete on a global scale with other companies.

The 39-year-old, who lives in Wrea Green, said: "This is an exciting new chapter for Arthro Vite and I have big plans for the future, in terms of the way I see the business developing.

"The company peaked with a turnover just shy of 1m and my plan is to plough more resources into future development, which will include a far more focussed and pro-active marketing and sales strategy.

"I am determined to add between eight per cent to 10 per cent to the turnover this year and firmly believe this to be a sustainable, profitable business."

As the only company in the UK with a licence to add Collagen Hydrolysate to its food supplements, Arthro Vite manufactures a range of products, including Collagen Plus and Activ Vite, which are at the forefront of scientific development for the maintenance of joint and bone health.

Arthro Vite already has long-standing accounts with leading health supplement wholesalers Tree of Life and The Nutri Centre, as well as a profitable mailorder arm of the business.

Mr Allum added: "The structure of the business is not going to change dramatically and we have the capacity here to probably double turnover and volume.

"We are also looking at some product development because our range hasn't changed much over the last decade or so.

"We believe there is a lot of untapped potential in the beauty and sports markets, so we may well look to expand in those areas.

"Basically, the scope is there for product development, but right now I believe we need to focus on stimulating the existing business."
