A CAR dealership has opened its doors in Blackpool for the first time.
Arnold Clark Renault has replaced the Co-Operative company on Amy Johnson Way, South Shore, and began trading on June 1.
The Blackpool Business Park site will boast more than 100 new, nearly new and used vehicles.
Additionally, the dealership will also have access to a further 10,000 vehicles via the company’s vehicle stock locator.
Sir Arnold Clark, director of the nationwide car firm, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers vehicles from the Renault range.
“This is a new and exciting opportunity for the group and we look forward to meeting and welcoming both new and existing customers to our new dealership.
“We will continue to offer genuine value for money and high levels of customer satisfaction traditionally associated with Arnold Clark.”
All of the existing staff on the site have remained in place throughout the transition period although no more jobs are currently expected to be offered.
The new store represents the first time the national chain has set up in Blackpool and has become one of the 145 dealerships Arnold Clark owns nationwide.
Howard Lewis, chairman of Blackpool Business Leadership Group, says the decision of such a major player in the market to come into the resort shows the confidence businesses have in the town.
He told The Gazette: “It’s good news and very promising.
“Any new business opening in Blackpool and bringing investment into the town is a positive thing.
“Arnold Clark is a national company and it shows a very positive outlook for the business economy in the town.
“The company looks for multiple sites when they choose to expand and the fact they can come here highlights the positive inward investment strategy we have in Blackpool.”
