A TATTOO artist has turned business owner after plying his trade in Canada and the UK.

Mark Hardy returned from a five-year spell working in Canada – where he met wife Bethany – and the couple have decided to go into business themselves in St Annes.

The duo, from Lytham, have launched Victory Tattoos in St Annes, in premises occupied by a previous tattoo parlour on Don Street, off St David’s Road South.

Mark said: “I’d been working as an artist for five years in Canada and for a few months back here when the guy wanted to close and move into another business.

“I’d got experience of running the business and it was a great opportunity for us to start up on our own.

““We’ve made it a different type of studio than before – it’s more of a boutique feel now.

“On the first day we opened the doors, three people made appointments, and I’ve got 10 people getting Victory tattooed on them on Saturday, so things are starting well.”

The shop will have its official opening tomorrow, but has already opened its doors to customers who can discuss tattoo ideas and make appointments.

The new store has been welcomed by the town’s Chamber of trade.

Co-ordinator Arnold Sumner said: “It’s always good to see shops being taken over and filled.

“I look forward to going down and welcoming the new owners of the shop.

“No-one wants to see empty premises in the town.”
