A TOP design and marketing agency is behind a new campaign to put the Houndshill Shopping Centre back on the retail map of the UK.

Encore Advertising and Design, based at Constellation House on Blackpool Business Park, won a five-way pitch in London to secure the prestigious Houndshill account which involves a year-long strategic campaign to highlight the unique attractions of the shopping centre following a £35m refurbishment programme.

Headed by owner and director Ed Christiano, originally from New York, Encore was established more than 20 years ago and specialises in brand development, marketing and design for both print and new media.

The firm has worked for Boots, Blackpool Transport, Isle of Man Government, Pleasure Beach Blackpool, Dutton Forshaw and Bensons Crisps to name but a few.

Encore has teamed up with PR consultancy Freedman Brown Communications to win the new business.

Both firms have worked together with some of the country’s leading brands including Warner Brothers, Virgin Cinemas, Fishermans Friend, Bass Taverns and Merlin Entertainments.

Mr Cristiano said: “Our major objective is to create and deliver a marketing campaign for the Houndshill and create wider consumer awareness of the retail destination.

“This is a major account for us and we are delighted.

“We want to establish and build on local relationships and partnerships in the town.”

Houndshill manager John Holt said, ”The shopping centre is performing really well and footfall remains strong. We are all looking forward to a really busy summer.”

The Houndshill attracted more visitors in the first quarter of the year than last.
