A chic new coffee bar is all set to ‘take off’ at Blackpool Airport.

Mojos has opened in the departure lounge as part of a series of refurbishments designed to improve the experience for passengers.

The news also comes as the airport announced 20,000 additional passengers are expected through its doors this year thanks to new flights to Dalaman in Turkey as well as the Spanish islands of Lanzarote and Ibiza.

Mojos is the brainchild of Mo Ghernaout and Danielle Yates who have worked together in the catering industry for more than a decade. Mo is also the owner of Lytham restaurant Bosco.

Danielle said: “We’re very excited to be launching Mojos at Blackpool Airport. The cafe is named after Mo and my husband, Joseph, and we’re dedicated to providing great quality food to passengers.”

She said they had hired local artist Hannah Rampley to decorate Mojos with a mural celebrating Blackpool.

Alongside the new cafe, new furnishings and passenger facilities have been installed in the departure lounge, while the check-in area is being reconfigured to make the security more efficient.

Sue Kendrick, corporate affairs manager at Blackpool Airport, said: “The investment in our airside facilities has really made a difference and we are delighted to welcome Mojos to Blackpool Airport.

“It is always great to see local people wanting to invest in and grow local businesses.

“Mojos is new and it is exciting – what a fabulous way to start the busy summer season here at Blackpool Airport!”
