HOTELIERS are celebrating today after being named in the top 10 family hotels in the UK.
The Doric on Queen’s Promenade and the Premier Inn on Yeadon way were ranked seven and six in the list complied by travel website TripAdvisor.
Emma Shaw from TripAdvisor said it showed that Blackpool was the place to visit in the UK for summer holidays.
The website describes the 103-bedroomed Doric as “First class and friendly and accommodating”, while the Premier’s post states: “Does what you’d expect of a Premier Inn.”
John Kay, Doric general manager said the directors Simon and Brian Taylor were thrilled at being named in the top 10.
He said: “This is down to a lot of hard work from all the members of staff at the Doric.
“We really try hard to cater for children and families and make the children feel at home and treat them as we would treat a grow-up. Children have their own menu here and there is a games room for children which we are trying to update with better computers and machines.
“We have great family leisure facilities, an indoor pool and an outdoor pool which is very popular in the summer month. It is a little sun trap there.”
Located close to the Pleasure Beach and the Golden Mile, the Premier Inn Blackpool Central offers spacious family rooms at no extra cost and children under 16 can stay and eat breakfast free.
John Forrest Chief Operating Officer for Premier Inn said: “We are very honoured to be recognised by as a 2013 Travellers’ Choice Awards for Hotels for Families winner. We take pride in doing everything we can to provide families that visit us with the best experience.”
Emma Shaw, TripAdvisor spokesperson said: “With the schools set to break up for Easter in a matter of weeks, these awards recognise the hotels that family travellers love the most.
“To have two hotels in the UK’s top 10 is a fantastic achievement.”
