After working at several establishments, including Rico’s In Poulton, he decided to take the next step and open his own restaurant.

He said: “The building became available in Red Bank Road and we bought it. I wanted to do Italian food with some traditional Sardinian dishes.

“Despite having a heart attack a few years ago, it has been great. I would like to thank all my staff and customers over the years.”

North Promenade hotelier Mick Grewcock was at the celebration. He said: “Max and his team are a credit to the area. We have a lot of great businesses in the Red Bank Road area, it is thriving.”
