A former Get Started graduate has been nominated by one of the one of Britain’s biggest brewers to advise and assist their tenants.
Rob McLintock, a former CAMRA publican of the year, set up his company Best Cellar using the knowledge he acquired through Blackpool Council’s Get Started scheme which helps aspiring business owners learn everything they need to know in order to realise their dreams.
And now he is putting his expertise in managing a pub cellar to good use by training others.
In fact, his company is doing so well Rob has secured ties with the North West’s largest family brewer – Frederic Robinson’s – advising and assisting tenants on their estate of 340 pubs and hotels.
Robinson’s supplies locations across England and Wales and have been in business for more than 150 years.
The Stockport-based brewery is best known for its Old Tom ale, Unicorn bitter plus the Trooper beer created with heavy metal rock legends Iron Maiden.
Rob said: “Blackpool Council’s Get Started service assisted me to put a business plan together, provided invaluable courses that included marketing as well as social media and helped me obtain additional financial support from the Government’s New Enterprise Allowance scheme.
“I have found my first success with one of the North West’s leading breweries, Robinson’s, providing a service to their tenanted estate that includes a business health check and supporting those new to the industry.
“I believe anyone with a sound business idea should not hesitate to contact Get Started for the one to one advice, free courses and assistance they can offer.”
Blackpool Council is committed to helping aspiring entrepreneurs and has helped around 1,000 people start their own businesses over the last seven years through the Get Started scheme.
Coun Mark Smith, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for business and economic development, said: “It’s pleasing to hear about the success stories that Get Started has helped to create.
“The scheme has helped hundreds of aspiring business owners pursue their dreams so, if you’ve got a good idea, give our team a call.”
