Battling back: It's all in the fine print!

A BLACKPOOL printing firm is predicting a colourful future after a tough 12 months.

Bosses at North Shore-based CMYK Group say the past few months have picked up following a difficult summer.

The company was forced to shelve plans to move to bigger premises because of the recession and remains, for the time being, on Clifford Road.

But managing director Steve Shelmerdine says the future is looking brighter after winning a number of big contracts over the past few weeks.

The company has recently provided literature for Premiership side Manchester City as well as contracts for Blackpool and Fylde councils.

Mr Shelmerdine, who is joint managing director with his brother David, said: "The middle of the year has been tough but things have picked up in recent months.

"We have invested in new equipment but have only recently

installed it, due to the conditions.

"Putting off our office move was a major blow but we are confident the next 12 months will see an improvement.

"The main problem is that many smaller firms do not want to market themselves as they haven't the money. B if a firm wants to tell people it is out there, there really is only one way."

The company has also appointed experienced printer, Gary Dickson, who used to work at Hesketh Press and who will have responsibility for helping to drive the company forward.

Mr Shelmerdine said: "Our continued success means we are

always looking for really good, quality people like Gary who can add really value to, and strengthen the team."

Mr Dickson added: "This is a fabulous opportunity to become part of a major business, it feels a bit like joining a Premiership team and as CMYK has one of the only dedicated print sales teams in the area there`s a real focus on customer service and that`s my forte."

CMYK employs around 40 people at it head office in

Blackpool.
