Attractions urged to enter awards

Blackpool’s tourism hot spots have just one week left to enter the 2013 Lancashire Tourism Awards.

In this their 10th anniversary year, the event will take place on November 7 at Blackburn Cathedral.

Tourism expert, broadcaster and travel editor of The Independent, Simon Calder, will host the event.

Ruth Connor, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, said: “The tourism sector is crucial to the economic success of Lancashire, contributing £3.4bn to the local economy.

“It is deserving of an awards event that recognises and rewards those who are at the forefront of their industry.

“Lancashire has something for everyone, appealing to a wide range of visitors with many different motivations for visiting.”

New categories introduced this year include awards for best Wedding Venue; Retail Experience; Luxury Experience; Cultural Venue/Organisation, as well as an award for those offering the best experience for group travellers.
