The entertainment venue said it has long believed in rewarding hard-working employees with cash prizes, on a monthly basis, but announced at its Viva Directors’ Academy Awards evening that it would be focusing on employee performance over the whole season, rewarding the star performer with a holiday in Tenerife.

The inaugural winner of the Star of the Season accolade has now been chosen and table host, Atlanta Hayley-Jefferson was chosen as the winner.

Atlanta, 19, not only welcomes visitors to the venue’s shows and ensures they have a first-class experience at Viva Blackpool, but also assists the events team when they are arranging weddings, celebrations and awards nights.

She was chosen because of her willingness to be a great team player, working across any part of the business when required to do so.

Her flexibility and desire to help, being punctual and reliable earned her votes, while a generally positive attitude and understanding of the business, and its brand values, also helped her scoop the prize.

Viva Blackpool’s managing director, Martin Heywood, said: “We are a business that believes in incentivising our employees and rewarding great on-the-job performance and attitude. Our creation of the Star of the Season Award, and the value of the prize that we offered, reflect this.

“Atlanta was a very worthy winner and great role model for the type of employee who excels here.”
