An appeal has been launched after a woman was hit in the face with a wine glass in a horrifying attack at a nightclub.
The victim, a 30-year-old woman, was with her friend near the dance floor of the Cube club, in Poulton, in the early hours of Sunday when the incident happened.
Detectives believe she accidentally bumped into another woman who then threw her glass in the victim’s face.
It left her with a deep wound to her cheek.
She was helped by doormen to a waiting ambulance where she was taken for treatment to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
She required stitches in the wound.
It is believed the attacker fled the club and ran on to Breck Road.
She is described as a mixed race woman with an athletic build, approximately 5ft 6in tall and with dark hair.
Det Con Emma Shuttleworth, from Blackpool CID, said: “This was a cowardly, unprovoked attack on a woman who did nothing more than accidentally bump into someone near the dance floor.
“The victim was enjoying a night out with friends and to be attacked in this way must have been extremely frightening.
“A police investigation to identify the woman responsible is underway but I would urge her to come forward to the police. Similarly, I would appeal to anybody who was with the offender to contact us.
“We are also appealing to anybody who witnessed the assault or has any information that could assist with our investigation to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference number BC1408173.”
