Air show worth billions to Fylde
THIS year's Farnborough Air Show has been described as being "critical" for the Fylde's aerospace industry.
Thousands of visitors will descend on the Hampshire airfield as the industry attempts to recover from the deepest recession in decades.
And in the same week BAE Systems unveiled its futuristic Taranis unmanned aircraft, deals and exports are the order of the day for military chiefs.
It is also an important event for the Fylde's civil aviation industry with dozens of supply firms eager for new deals.
Alison Ramsay, communications director for Military Air Solutions at BAE, said: "For BAE Systems this year, the airshow is particularly important.
"The success of Typhoon, and its increasingly warm reception in potential export markets, and the spectacular debut on the world stage of Taranis, our stealthy unmanned combat air demonstrator this month, all mean we have a potent and powerful story to sell."
Martin Wright, from the North West Aerospace Alliance, added: "The aerospace industry is worth billions to the Fylde economy and not just BAE Systems, there are dozens of supply chains will be looking to Farnborough to seal deals to keep the good work coming in. We will be there selling the NWAA to the world, as well as the people we represent across the Fylde."
