SIXTH Form students are finding out about life in the workplace first hand thanks to a new mentoring programme.
A group of 21 business, economics and ICT students from Blackpool Sixth Form College have signed up to Career Academy programme for the next 18 months.
The scheme will see them paired up with workplace mentors from local employers who will help them gain work experience and build employability skills.
The mentoring programme, called Partners in Business aims to raise the aspirations of teenagers.
New Fylde Housing, PGL, Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals NHS Trust, Santander and Blackpool and Wyre councils have all signed up to give support.
Louise Logan, work placement Officer said: “Through the support of local employers, students have the opportunity to get real and meaningful knowledge of a professional environment.
“We hope these relationships will help our students excel, endow them with a range of workplace skills and give them a sense of the career opportunities available to them.”
