More than 300 applications for jobs have been received by bosses at a pet store chain which is set to open a new branch in Blackpool.
The new Pets At Home store is set to open in the Warbreck area later this month, creating 18 new jobs in the town.
The company, which is Britain’s largest pet retailer, is investing almost half a million pounds in the branch.
And managers there believe they now have the right team in place.
Area manager Gill Parry, said: “There was a strong demand from Warbreck pet owners for Pets at Home to come to town, and we’re very pleased to have been able to grant them their wish.
“Pets at Home is committed to recruiting from the local area and I’m pleased we’ve found a team of talented individuals in Blackpool.
“They’re all extremely passionate about pets and can’t wait to get started.”
Applicants go through a number of stages to assess their compatibility for the role. Those recruited are given the option to gain specialist qualifications in pet care during their career with the fir.
The new store will take over the premises formerly occupied by Comet on Plymouth Road. The new 11,900 sq ft store will be number 373 for the company. Pets at Home also has a store at Blackpool Retail Park.
The new store, led by store manager Heather Cook, has been with Pets at Home for five years, having previously worked at the branch on Blackpool Retail Park. The company employs more than 6,000 across the UK.
