A village school is inviting people to ‘buy a brick’ to help create a new classroom and enhance facilities for its pupils.
More than 130 current and former pupils, staff and well wishers have already bought engraved bricks that will form a new feature on the external wall of the soon-to-be-built new classroom at St Michael’s-on-Wyre CE School, in St Michael’s, near Garstang.
The aim is to provide a new classroom for the 120 pupils.
Former pupil and current school governor Christine Fleet and her family have already bought bricks.
Her bricks will commemorate the many family members who attended or worked at the school.
She said: “I was delighted to support this superb school and at the same time have bricks with my parents, grandparents and even my husband’s name on.
“St Michael’s has always been such a lovely village school, and everyone has such happy memories of their time here.”
Former headteacher Christine Cameron, who was head from 1983 to 2003, has also bought a brick for the wall.
She said: “It is so nice to have the chance to help the school with the new extension.”
