A COUPLE have been accused of forcing a young boy to live in a converted coal bunker described by police as a “cell”.

Blackpool magistrates heard the room allegedly contained a soiled mattress, a potty and dirty clothes and had a lock on the outside.

The boy was said to have been forced to live there for a year between January 1 2010 and January 25 last year.

His 39-year-old mother and a 45-year-old man, both from Grange Park, are charged with ill-treating a child and neglecting a child.
