Davies regards the bout as a significant step up.

He said: “Omidi is a good fighter, with fast hands who has only lost to top level lads.

“He is definitely a step up for me and I know he is coming for the win and fancies his chances.

“I know this, I am aware of this and have trained diligently in preparation for my toughest fight to date.

“Me and the team have watched him and we know what he is all about; his strengths and weaknesses.

“Hopefully a victory here will make a statement that I am ready to step up to that next level and kickstart big things in 2017.

“I will have 150 supporters travelling down the M55 to the Guild Hall to cheer me on and I will do everything within my power to make it a successful night, leaving everything in the ring as I always do.

“It’s a privilege to have such a great core of support and these people who buy tickets to come and watch my fights and the local businesses who sponsor me are in this with me and that’s a great feeling.”

Davies has won 10 bouts in his career to date, losing once to William Warburton.

His opponent, Omidi, from Manchester, has won four, lost four and drawn one to date.
