CALLING all trampoline fans and bounce enthusiasts – Blackpool Tiggers needs you!
The Blackpool autism charity is holding a massive four-hour bounce-a-thon on Sunday June 5, but 240 children are needed to make it a success.
The Bouncing High For Autism appeal is the Gazette’s latest campaign, and aims to raise £40,000 to totally refurbish Tiggers’ South Shore headquarters
Staff are hoping the big bounce will bring the community together to keep trampolines at Blackpool Sports Centre busy between 10am and 2pm on the day.
But with under a month to go, children with bundles of energy are needed quickly.
Sheila Cullinane, project co-ordinator said: “We are thrilled to be announcing our sponsored bounce and hope it will boost our appeal total.
“All children love being on trampolines, especially autistic children so we want to bring everybody together to help our charity survive.
“If your children love trampolining and want to help a good cause, this is the perfect family day out.”
Blackpool Tiggers is an activity group for local autistic children and their families. Without the fun days out, many autistic youngsters would have few opportunities to get outside and socialise.
The £40,000 will be used to widen doorways for disabled access, add a sensory room and replaster and re-wire the building.
The Bounce-a-thon will be a full family fun day. As well as the trampoline challenge, there will be face painting, stalls, traditional bounce games, body zorbing, music plus much more.
Children are asked to get sponsorship for the bounce which will ask them to bounce for five minutes as part of an allocated hour time slot.
Teams of 10 aged between four and 18 are invited from local schools and organisations. Individual bouncers can also sign up for the day. If you can’t join the day, people can also hold sponsored bounce events and parties at home to raise sponsorship money for the Tiggers appeal.
