IT’S not often you see a life-size smoke alarm but that’s what happened at a fire station open day.
Hundreds of people flocked to the new Fleetwood Community Fire Station, which opened its doors to the public for the day.
The character Sam Smoke Alarm Man was particularly popular with younger visitors.
John Taylor, press officer at the Radcliffe Road station, said: “We had kids clambering in fire engines and we did a demonstration of a road accident and how we can use cutting equipment to rescue people from vehicles.
“I think people found it interesting and it was a mixture of fun and educating people about the risks of fire.”
The new station is designed to be use by the community, with meeting rooms which can be used by the public and local groups.
