Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of just three out of 14 health care trusts not to be placed in special measures after a review into high mortality rates.
Health minister Jeremy Hunt announced in Parliament on Tuesday that 11 trusts would be placed in special measures because of failures in their care.
Those hospitals will see external teams brought in to help them implement recommendations of Sir Bruce Keogh’s review of hospital mortality rates.
At The Vic and the other hospitals not placed in special measures, Mr Hunt said there was still cause for concern about the quality of care provided.
He said the leadership in place at those hospital trusts would be left to implement Sir Bruce’s recommendations.
All 14 trusts will be reviewed in 12 months.
