A MURDER probe was under way today after a man was stabbed to death in Blackpool.
Police were called to Cromwell Road, North Shore, after the 33-year-old was stabbed on nearby Bedford Road at around 4.30pm yesterday and staggered into a nearby shop to call for help.
Paramedics were called and treated him at the scene before taking him to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Today, residents spoke of their shock at the stabbing, which took place just yards from Claremont Primary School.
A 37-year-old man, from Blackpool, was arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken into custody at Blackpool’s Bonny Street police station where he will be questioned later today. Three other people, a 41-year-old man and two women aged 26 and 34, all from Blackpool, were also arrested and are in custody on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Insp Grant Smith, of Lancashire Police, said: “Police attended the death of a 33-year-old male in Bedford Road and the death is being treated as suspicious. A number of people have been arrested and are in custody in Blackpool while inquiries continue.”
