One of Blackpool’s oldest landmarks has been devastated by the gale force winds that hit the Fylde coast yesterday.
Blackpool’s iconic North Pier has been left severely damaged after yesterday’s dramatic storms, leaving owners counting the cost of the destruction.
Floor boards were ripped up, stalls demolished and a vital steel support beam snapped by the sea as the storm took its toll on the pier.
Staff are today busy assessing the damage and getting to work making repairs that will be needed before the pier can reopen.
The arcade is open to the public, despite floor boards being torn up by the force of the waves yesterday, after staff worked late into the night to fix the damage.
