Heysham 1’s power station shutdown both its reactors Thursday evening after an electrical fault in one of its four gas turbine generators.
Crews from Bispham Fire Station were called to the site after the electrical fault started the four generators’ fire protection systems.
20 firefighters, including five from Bispham and others from Lancaster and Fulwood, were called to the power station shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday.
A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue confirmed there was no fire.
The gas turbines are used to provide back-up power to the station in the event of a loss of power from the national grid.
