A former limousine driver celebrated his birthday in style after winning a five figure lottery prize.

Patrick Cuddihy, of Rossendale Road, St Annes, was told of his surprise present the day before his 51st birthday after receiving a phone call from the People’s Postcode Lottery to inform him he’d won a whopping £10,000.

But Mr Cuddihy admits he thought he was the victim of a birthday prank at first.

He said: “When they rang me they asked if they knew it was my birthday the day after.

“I thought that someone was just taking the micky so I was playing along.

“I had a lot of friends and family coming over for my birthday and they like a laugh so it’s the kind of thing they would do.”

Through his former limo driving role, Patrick has previously starred in two Channel Four reality shows, Four in a Bed and Out on a Limo.

He now works for the Rideability Blackpool charity, where he drives adapted minibuses suitable for wheelchair users.

Patrick, who is originally from Ireland, is also a volunteer driver for the transplant service.

He already has some big plans for how he will spend his winnings too.

He said: “I’m going to upgrade my car and take my family on holiday to Majorca.

“My family and friends came out and they were celebrating as well, it was brilliant.”

Patrick’s numbers come up...and it’s no joke!

People’s Postcode Lottery street prize presenter and ambassador Judie McCourt said: “It was wonderful to meet Patrick and we made sure he was given the full celebrity treatment when we delivered his cheque.

“He was convinced that his friends were playing a gag on him so it was lovely to be the one to tell him that he really was a winner.”
