POLICE in Wyre are urging residents to ensure their bikes are left secure after a spate of bike thefts.
Officers are urging people to be vigilant after a highly customised bike was stolen from an insecure garage outside a property on Lothian Avenue in Fleetwood.
The bike is described as a hand built BMX bike with a black frame with red front forks and blue wheels.
It had a grey seat with Eclat written on it.
Police say a number of bikes have been stolen from insecure garages in Fleetwood and Cleveleys recently.
They believe the BMX bike is likely to have been broken down into its component parts and are warning other residents to watch out for bicycle thieves.
PC Lynnette Harrison said: “We have had a few bikes stolen from the Fleetwood and Cleveleys area recently through insecure garages.
“I would remind residents to ensure they lock their sheds and garages and lock up their bikes inside them.
“When chaining up your bike please ensure you lock it through the wheels and frame as they wheels can be removed.
“The young boy that owns the stolen bike has spent a lot of time and money on the component parts and is naturally very upset.
“Anyone with any information about this offence or any other crime should contact the police on 08451 25 35 45.
