Blackpool soap star Nikki Sanderson has bagged herself yet more award nominations for her role as domestic violence victim Maxine Minniver.
The Hollyoaks actress is listed in two categories at the Inside Soap Awards 2014 – the UK soap industry’s top awards ceremony.
She was included in the longlist which was released in July. Since then, soap fans have been voting for their favourites with the shortlist announced yesterday.
Ex-Coronation Street actress Nikki will line up in the best actress category against Coronation Street’s Julie Hesmondhalgh as Hayley Cropper, EastEnders’ Linsdey Coulson as Carol Jackson and Emmerdale’s Verity Rushworth as Donna Windsor.
The Maxine and Patrick abuse plot in Hollyoaks (pictured) has been shortlisted for the best storyline, which Nikki has played alongside her on-screen husband, played by Jeremy Sheffield.
Also vying for this title are Goodbye, Hayley in Corrie, Who Killed Lucy Beale in EastEnders and The Woolpack siege in Emmerdale.
The plot has seen Nikki’s character Maxine subjected to physical violence and emotional abuse at the hands of husband Patrick.
Scenes screened in the Channel 4 soap in the summer showed Maxine attempting to walk out of her wedding reception but being grabbed by Patrick, who accidentally ripped her dress and revealed many bruises.
The awards will be announced at a ceremony in London next Wednesday, October 1.
On Twitter, Nikki said: “Wowzers! Thanku so much 4helping me get shortlisted 4best actress &storyline! Ecstatic!”
