A BLACKPOOL teenager has been labelled an “inspiration’’ after winning two top nursing cadet awards.
Beth Corry, 18, won the North West Skills Academy Health and Social Care Cadet of the Year Award, for both Blackpool and Lancashire after being nominated by her course co-ordinator Nicky Wright.
Nicky, from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said Beth was chosen for the strength of character she displayed throughout the course after losing both her father and sister in the same week.
She said: “Beth has demonstrated maturity beyond her years, working hard and inspiring others despite what she has been through.’’
Beth said: “I felt very privileged when I found out, my family and I were all crying at the ceremony, it was a special occasion.
After qualifying, Beth was successful in getting a position as a Health Care Assistant on Ward 32 at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. She now plans on studying to become an Assistant Practitioner.
