A COLOURFUL art event has remembered the tireless work of a community leader.
Art in the Park at Bethesda Road, Blackpool, saw young artists decorate display boards and a wall in memory of Doreen Holt, the councillor who campaigned for the land to be rejuvenated after it became derelict.
The park, which is named after the respected former Bloomfield ward councillor, saw graffiti artist Mr Dee and community artist Boz Phillips join forces with more than 20 children to create inspired designs at the parkland.
Barbara Stephenson, community housing officer at Muir Group Housing Association, which helped organise the event, said: “The children came up with some brilliant ideas and it was great to see them come to life.
“They painted designs they had created on to woodchip boards with the help of Boz, while Mr Dee spray-painted some colourful designs on to a wall at the back of the park.”
Muir Group Housing Association staff helped organise the event alongside Blackpool Council and community members who wanted to pay tribute to Doreen.
