Apprentices with a Blackpool training group are being offered the opportunity to undertake the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh award.

Training 2000 is putting 71 of its latest cohort through the programme, to give them new experiences, challenges and skills.

To achieve the award participants must complete three months of activity and prepare for a two day expedition in the countryside, planning their own activities while supported by their employers.

Marilyn Pilkington, 14-19 Engagement Team Leader at Training 2000, said: “The programme offers opportunities for learners to meet new people and really test themselves, which will prepare them well for their future careers.”
