FLEETWOOD tenor Alfie Boe and Girls Aloud pop princess Kimberley Walsh have teamed up to create the official Team GB and Paralympics GB song for the 2012 London Olympics – One Vision, the chart-topping track written by legendary rock band Queen.
Joined by the Youth Music Voices choir, the track will be released digitally on May 11, by Decca Records, in association with The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), the British Olympic Association (BOA), and the British Paralympic Association (BPA).
The Team GB Anthem will be performed by Alfie and Kimberley in public for the first time at The Royal Albert Hall on Friday to coincide with its release.
This exclusive performance will take place at Our Greatest Team Rises, an official launch party for Team GB and ParalympicsGB to mark the final countdown to the Games.
This special Olympics 2012 event will be attended by Prince William and Catherine, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
As well as the Royal couple, a host of Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes, past and present will be in attendance.
Alfie said: “It’s a huge honour to sing One Vision for Team GB with Kimberley.
“Being a massive Queen fan, I was very excited about recording the track - I hope everyone likes it.”
Kimberley added: “I’m so excited to be supporting Team GB with Alfie on our single One Vision. Bring on the gold medals!”
Kimberley shot to fame with the chart-topping girl group, Girls Aloud and has since had four number one singles and two number one albums, selling more than 10 million records worldwide.
She is currently taking the role of Princess Fiona in Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Alfie has sung lead roles on the world’s most prestigious opera stages and most recently led the cast of Les Misérables at the 25th anniversary performances from the 02 arena and subsequently at The Queen’s Theatre.
Alfie’s last two studio albums, released on Decca, reached the Top 10 of the UK Pop Charts attaining ‘platinum’.
He is currently working on his new album to be released later this year.
