Kind-hearted estate agents have taken it upon themselves to help those struggling to eat this Christmas.
Oystons Estate Agency has three offices on the Fylde Coast - in Blackpool, Cleveleys and Fleetwood - and donated the essential food to Blackpool Food Bank, which supplies parcels throughout the resort.
Their efforts saw customers and staff donate boxes of tins, cereals, pasta, rice and sweets to help those in need.
Hayley Claber, a director at Oystons, said: “We did this because the staff decided they wanted to support a charity this Christmas.
“There’s a lot of stories at the moment about food banks and we realise at this time of year that people don’t have much money and it’s easy to give away something that’s in your cupboard and isn’t being used.”
The estate agents were helped with their efforts by Blackpool-based businesses Burtons Biscuits and Tangerine Confectionery, who donated food to their appeal.
Mrs Claber added: “We had an amazing response.
“We filled my car up four times to deliver the tins, biscuits, mince pies, selection boxes and Christmas puddings.
“This is something we have decided to do long term and we will continue to work alongside Blackpool Food Bank to do it.”
Blackpool Food Bank, on Walker Street, was set up in February last year and by the end of November 2012 it had provided food to 370 families.
The Gazette told earlier this week how they are providing food parcels to between 150 and 200 families a month, four times the amount last year.
