A CONVICTED murderer who absconded from Kirkham prison has been re-captured by the police.
Lester Jackson, who bludgeoned a man to death with a baseball bat in a shocking street robbery in 1990, had been missing for three weeks.
He was arrested at 12.25am this morning in a property in Barrow, Cumbria, where he is thought to have family links.
Police appealed for the public’s help to trace 43-year-old Jackson after he went missing on March 12.
He had left Kirkham prison at around 8.45am that day to attend at work placement in St Annes.
But he failed to turn up.
Police carried out inquiries around the country in locations including St Annes, Blackpool, Cumbria, Hertfordshire and London.
Jackson has now been detained in Barrow police station.
