Student Abigail Hutson is dancing for joy after winning a place in an exclusive top school.
The 19-year-old, from Poulton, has secured a place on a one-year intensive course at the famous The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts – Britain’s oldest theatre arts training school.
She was accepted into the academy after auditioning for school bosses in London.
The former Baines School pupil said: “I’ve wanted to do this since I was about 14. I never thought I would get a place really, I can’t believe it.
“I’m so excited as Italia Conti has such a great reputation and such strong links with the industry.
“I’ll be studying drama and dance, but I’ll also be looking at a whole range of things such as gymnastics, TV and film and vocal work.
“I feel so lucky to have got through.
“It sounds really cliched, but singing and dancing is literally my whole life. It’s something I have always done and always wanted to do.
“I’ve really got into drama and acting during my teenage years.
“I’ve had dancing lessons since I was three, I started with ballet. I just love the connection with the music and the emotion.
“And performing in front of an audience is such an amazing feeling.
“It really builds your confidence when you get a good reaction. I am really looking forward to starting at Italia Conti.”
Her step-dad, Mark Wood, said: “We are incredibly proud of Abigail and this fantastic achievement.
“It’s a very exclusive school and there was only six places available and after auditioning, she managed to get one.”
There will be a lot of costs associated with Abigail attending the school, so her family are looking for any businesses or organisations who might be able to help through sponsorship – including clothing.
