It was a red letter day, or should that be orange letter day, for the landmark £220m Talbot Gateway development as the signs went up on the key anchor superstore.

The £19m new Sainsbury’s store is due to open its doors on Wednesday, July 23, one of the major milestones for the project masterminded by Muse, which aims to revitalise the area around Blackpool North Station.

The bespoke signs were created by Blaze Designs for the 58,000 sq ft Talbot Road store, which will create 270 jobs.

Sainsbury’s say their new store will improve the shopping choice for residents and workers in the Talbot Road area.

Store manager Ian Collins said: “We’re very excited to be so close to the opening of this landmark foodstore.

“The signage being
installed on the front of the store is one of the last major pieces to the jigsaw puzzle.

“We are now concentrating on making sure the store is fully stocked and ready for our opening at 9am on July 23.”

Project manager Nick
Alston said: “We’re very proud to have worked on such a prominent development in Blackpool and the installation of the sign is one of the key milestones in completing the project.

“Over recent months we worked closely with our neighbours and local charities to
ensure that we have firm roots in the local community, which Ian and his team can build on once the store opens.”

The store will feature Sainsbury’s range of foods plus including homeware and its Tu clothing range, a customer café and a dentist and Timpson’s.
