BLACKPOOL Scorpions RL Under-16s rounded off their excellent season with a 12th straight win, 20-18 at Hindley.
They clinched promotion to North West Counties division two after finishing level with Haydock at the top.
After three early-season defeats, Mark Holden’s side has developed superbly and grown in confidence.
In the RL stronghold of Wigan, they combined strong defence with slick attack, which featured some new moves.
Scott Bulter scored the first try after 20 minutes, converted by Jordan Tierney.
Hindley pulled level five minutes later but Blackpool finished the half stronger, with Tierney’s try converted by Joe Phelps to make it 12-6.
Scorpions remained on top after the interval and Phelps was the next to score only for Hindley to close the gap to16-12.
Blackpool quickly stretched their lead to eight points with James Revell’s try only for Hindley to score again with eight minutes to go.
It took a massive defensive show from Blackpool to protect their lead but they did so to and a great season in style.
Centre Revell’s try was his 35th of the season, three more than the previous club record for the age group, scored in just 15 matches.
James, who has been with the club since he was a nine, is one of 11 players in his team who are also in the Lancashire Service Area squad.
