RONNIE ‘The Rocket’ Baxter is set to play in a 24-hour game of darts to raise money for Cancer Research this weekend.

The professional darts player will throw with six friends at the Royal Oak Pub on Lytham Road between 6pm on Friday and Saturday.

Along with team ‘Excelsior’, who play in regional darts leagues, The Rocket will be hoping to raise hundreds for the cancer charity. Fundraising organiser Yvonne Bailey, who also runs charity shop Bits & Bobs on Buchanan Street, said: “They’re all good players so they’ll do well.

“They’ve had a lot of support already but I want to raise over £1,000 really.”

Ms Bailey has organised a range of fundraisers, raising more than £5,000 for charity since January this year.

Spectators can add to the total by sponsoring the darts players or entering the raffle, with prizes including free passes to the Pleasure Beach and a two year-long passes for Blackpool Cricket Club.

Rock band Last Breath will provide live music on Saturday afternoon, with TC and the Allstars playing on Friday night.
